History
History
Our story began in 1983, when missionaries from LAM (Latin American Mission), came to Costa Rica with the objective to reach Costa Rica with the gospel of Jesus.
When they began to establish contacts with different communities in Costa Rica, besides noting the need of the gospel, it was also noticed the needs in every area of the families' lives. This moved the missionaries to approach the families with a whole care view, bringing not ony the gospel, but also providing for the family's needs.
In 1989, still as part of LAM, the first ministries began at Lomas del Río, in Pavas, focused on families, women and kids. From that moment, more doors were opened to reach people in the community, causing an exponential growth. A little after, the first center was acquired.
Since 1995, Christ for the City International (CFCI), began their work independently from LAM, keeping this ministry as a great alliance. This same year, our missionaries began to visit La Carpio community, at La Uruca. Since this first contact, we have created 6 transformation centers, turning into the biggest costa rican base. The first building is now known as La Segunda, and it was in the beginning the house of our clinic.
A little after, The Clinic was built, providing low-cost medical care to the community. The clinic was remodeled in 2013, adding a second stage, that allowed a bigger patient capacity. Since 2003, our sports and vocational center Renuevos began operations at La Carpio. Since 2015, we began our work at Las Gradas, located at the First Stop, and later, Renovación, a building next the elementary school became a new center. The newest center added to La Carpio based, is Agua Viva (Living Water, a psychological care center for Las Gradas people.

In 2014, God gave us the opportunity to move to a new office location, at the same time, allowing us to have a bigger guest house, to receive missionary short term teams. In 2017, a new guest house was added.
In 2016, "Refugio" (Refuge) was created at Pavas, our first rehabilitation center for adult people living in the street and fighting drug addiction. Since then, the center has grown and reach tens of men and women, giving them a new hope for their lives.
At the same time, in 2016, after an initial contact with local churches, we began our work at Tirrases community in Curridabat, and in 2019 we finished the construction of our center for the area.
During this time, new ministries were born to support the local church, such as Training and Counseling and Pastor Support ministries, providings resources for the community leadership, local church and others. Vocational projects like CasaArte, teaching how to sew to hundreds of women for more than 20 years, and giving tools to household chief women, and at the same time, each center has created their own programs.
Missionaries have established presence at Liberia, Guanacaste and Limon cities, focused on street evangelism.
In 2021, through a new alliance, we began to work at Los Guido town, in Sector 3 area of Desamparados, San José, following the same integral approach as our other centers.
Currently, we are working hard to open doors at Pitahaya city, in Puntarenas province, and Alajuelita, in San José.
